Hello! I’m R. Michael - I need a Living kidney Donor

I'm currently on dialysis, but it is not a cure.

I have hereditary Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) brought on by Diabetes & High Blood Pressure. I lost my sister to this awful disease several years ago, and now I’m fighting my own battle with it.

I’ve been on the waiting list for a kidney for 4 years and I’ve been on dialysis for almost 3 years. I’m still waiting and hoping for a living donor. With a new kidney I would be able to travel--as my husband and I always dreamed of, before being forced into early retirement. I'd also be more likely to be around to spend time with my rapidly growing family (20 grand nephews and nieces!), and have the chance to accomplish everything I still want to do in life!

If you’ve ever thought about becoming a living donor, perhaps this is your sign. Please feel free to reach out to me, or if you prefer, you can reach out to one of the programs I’m a part of: to learn more, or start the donation process.

I'm listed in 2 transplant programs:

Nevada: UMC Center for Transplantation (Las Vegas, NV)

Contact Number: 702-224-7163

Oregon: OHSU Transplant Program (Portland, OR)

Contact Number: 503-494-6636

Thank you for considering donating--or just helping me get the word out!

Learn more about kidney donation

Giving a kidney is safer and easier than in the past. Also, you no longer have to be a direct match in order to donate: through paired donations it could still lead to my receiving a kidney sooner.

Considering donation,
but not
ready yeti?

It's a big decision, I understand-and I appreciate you even considering such an amazing act of kindness. I've put together some info on the process and answers to questions you may have. Please reach out if you have any questions I can answer!
